Grid-cluster IRE
Access platform of the Usikov Institute of Radiophysics and Electronics NAS of Ukraine now is a beowulf cluster consisting of 10 compute nodes and one management server. 80 cores are available for users calculations, both MPI and OpenMP technologies are supported by the claster. Local resource manager, that handles user jobs execution, is based on the Troque package in conjunction with the MAUI scheduler.
Managing node:
2x Intel ® Xeon ® CPU 5420, 16Gb RAM, 2TB RAID5 HDD-storage. Operating System: Linux Slackware 12.2.0, kernel 2.6.27.7 i686. The node serves as the entry point for users and supports the key services (Torque, MAUI, NFS-server, etc.) as well. Compilers for C/C++ and Fortran, as well as key mathematical libraries (gcc 4.2.4, Intel MKL, ATLAS 3.8.3, etc.) are provided for the cluster users.
Compute nodes:
2x Intel ® Xeon ® CPU 5420, 16Gb memory, 160Gb HDD Operating System: Linux Slackware 13.0, kernel 2.6.27.7 i686. Local disk is only used for temporary files.
The cluster interconnect is based on the Infiniband DDR with throughput about 20Gb/s.
Computer software
Amber is a package of programs for molecular dynamics simulations of proteins and nucleic acids.
Octave is a high-level interpreted language, primarily intended for numerical computations. It provides capabilities for the numerical solution of linear and nonlinear problems, and for performing other numerical experiments. The Octave language is quite similar to Matlab.
Gamess is a computational chemistry software package that stands for General Atomic and Molecular Electronic Structure System.
